For my Create A Space assignment I chose to create a word wall for the students. All the words chosen will be related to what they are learning in class. My goal is for the students to have a useful area in the class to go to when they need help doing their work. Throughout the semester I will continue to add words on the wall. Every time the students start a new topic in class I will make a new poster with the definition, an example and a picture. My mentorship students and I picked out the best place in the class to have our word wall and we collectively make decisions and discuss how we can make it better. I chose to make a word wall because I am in an ESL class so the more definitions and word they know the more they can expand their vocabulary and learn the English language.

This is a before picture of where the word wall will soon be. The goal is to fill the classroom with colour and creativity.

These are some of the words I have been working on to put up in the class.

These are the final topics that were mentioned in unit one in the classroom. Most of the students are new to the English language so I thought it would be a good idea to have a word wall with some of the main topics they are learning in class. They did a lot of practice. We have started the next unit but the students always use their word wall whenever they need to remember a certain topic.

The photos above are examples of some of the activities the students did in class. They each chose one of the subjects from above and listed multiple words then had their peers circle the words that applied to the subject given. This allowed them to practise expanding their vocabulary and the knowledge with the parts of speech.
